We made the choice to work remotely, giving everyone the to work from home, or from a beach in the Bahamas.

Why are we remote?

High-performers are not all in the same country or city

We love London, but there are potential teammates across the world. We are building something outstanding, we need to broaden our horizons to attract outstanding people.

It encourages the way we work

Being remote forces us to face and solve problems early startups ignore for way too long. Structural problems in the way we work are highlighted and we can invest in solving them.

How do we remote?

Remote setup

Everyone at Baselime is free to travel the world as they work.

We do all of our work online. From whiteboarding to project management. We understand the current tooling makes some of these tasks far easier in person, but every in-person session should be transferred online for those who are not in the office. For example, a photo of the whiteboard with the added context will suffice.

We use a software solution to let teammates know from where we are working on a daily basis.

Moreover, we all make sure that:

• We have a solid internet connection, which is not going to stand in the way of us doing our work. An unreliable 4G network is not acceptable.
• We work from a quiet place from which we can take calls and speak clearly. Occasional calls from the local coffee shop are fine, but this shouldn't be the norm.
• When we have remote meetings, we prefer everyone to have their video on.
